Winter Warming Workshops in our Home Forge are a course intended for woodwork projects that require a few sessions to complete. Each course is a set of three friday evening classes of 2 hours each, for participants 18 years and over. A forge is lit for warmth and hot mulled wine served.
August’s project: Rustic 3 legged bush stool from a hardwood roundback using traditional hand tools and techniques
Maximum 4 participants
Dates: Friday evenings August 11th, August 18th, August 25th
Time: 7pm-9pm
Price: $350 includes hardwood roundback and legs for the making of one bush stool per participant. Tools, equipment and hot mulled wine also provided

We’ve been incredibly busy giving blacksmithing and bush furniture demonstrations at the Victorian Scout Jamboree in the bush this January 2022, so as a result our home forge in Spotswood has been closed. We are opening for a very small selection of days to offer workshops (including these dates here), with our regular hours (Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays) set to resume in Term 1. Please contact Rob with any queries, or to book a workshop in our home forge. Stay cool over Summer and rest up after the tricky past year.
Come and make a hand forged cheese knife amid the beautiful surrounds of Dromkeen Historic Homestead in Riddells Creek. Places limited to 12 participants. All materials provided. Please wear a long sleeved top, long pants, sturdy shoes and have long hair tied back.

The Victorian Government has given Creative Studios the okay to reopen with mandatory double vaccination of Creative Workers and participants over 12 years and 2 months (or double vaccination of parents/carers of younger participants), and a covid-safe plan. Our covid-safe plan includes the Victorian Government QR code (or handwritten) check-in, regular cleaning of tools, displayed signage, and cleaning of shared and public spaces. As Creative Workers, both Rob and Sally Nansen are fully vaccinated.
So it is with GREAT JOY that from our Home Forge in Spotswood we are offering 3 workshop bookings on Saturdays (9am-11am, 12pm-2pm & 3pm-5pm) and 2 workshop bookings on Wednesdays and Thursdays (10am-12pm & 1pm-3pm) throughout the rest of Term 4.
Facilitated by Rob, these 2 hr workshops would suit Adults, Homeschoolers, NDIS participants, and young people, or any who are wanting a weekly or fortnightly rhythm to their Blacksmithing experience. Please be aware that participants vary, and you may be blacksmithing alongside new participants at different times.
Our 6 x 2hr session package, offered both as concession rate (HCC only) and full fare rate, remains a popular one for those wanting ongoing sessions as it gives a slight discount while ensuring a participant’s ongoing place in sessions. Happily we are able to resume our workshops again at our home forge after the brief Melbourne lockdown. We are offering three 2hr session blocks on Saturdays throughout this term. Choose from 9am-11am, 12pm-2pm or 3pm-5pm. Workshops include blacksmithing or bush furniture projects. Our 6 session fee remains a popular one, especially with Homeschoolers or NDIS families as it offers a small saving plus brings consistency to your experience over a few weeks or months. We can have up to three people along with Rob doing a workshop and safely maintain social distancing. All participants are required to sign in and give their address at the beginning of the workshop so we can maintain our Covid records.
